Chalio

The 40-day-long festival is observed every year in the months of July and August. The dates vary according to the Hindu Calendar. This is a thanks-giving celebration in the honor of Varuna Deva and Jhulelal for listening to their prayers. To keep this tradition alive, all Hindu Sindhis, even today, celebrate the event by keeping forty days of penance.

Lal Loi Cultural Program

Lal Loi is the Sindhi name for the festival of Lohri. Lal Loi is celebrated on the 13th of January every year. During Lal Loi, children and teenagers bring wood sticks from their grandparents and aunties and like a fire camp, burn these sticks/wood logs in the night with people enjoying, dancing and playing around fire. Some people distribute Boondi Singar along with Coconut pieces and Revri, offer coconuts in the fire and distribute prasad ‘Sesa’.
